Xiaomi is getting ready to shut down its short video sharing platform called Zili. The company will stop doing business in India soon For more updates newsyorbit.com
For those who don’t know, the Chinese tech giant’s Zili was first released in the Google Play Store in 2018 and worked similarly to another social media giant, TikTok. In other words, Zili also let users share or watch short videos on their platform.
They even tried to fill the market left by TikTok after the Indian government banned it. But now it looks like Xiaomi is also leaving the market, as it plans to shut down on March 13, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. “due to an operational adjustment.”

As of right now, the app has already been taken down from the Google Play Store. Also, Zili said, “All services on the Zili app will be disabled on and after the shutdown date.

This includes, but is not limited to, the functions of download, Z-points encashment or withdrawal, etc., and all user data will be deleted from our server after that date and will no longer be retrievable.”
Notably, this decision to shut down the platform would have probably led to a number of people losing their jobs in the country.
This app was very popular in India. The Play Store showed that it had been downloaded more than 100 million times before it was taken down. Zili became very popular after TikTok was banned in India in 2020.
So it remains to be seen which other short video-sharing app will fill the space left by these two platforms. For more updates newsyorbit.com
