But it turns out that the first episode of Queer Eye could have ended in a very, very different way. The first episode of the recently relaunched Netflix show, The Fab Five, gave Tom Jackson the confidence boost he really needed. With a new wardrobe, a new look for his house, and some color correction for his lupus, Tom’s warm personality is easy to like.
Tom and his ex-wife Abby got back together after a few months, and they got married again. But the loving reunion doesn’t happen very much, and Tom’s episode would have been so different.
Karamo Brown told Entertainment Weekly that the original plan was to help Tom get over his breakup with Abby and build up his online dating profile. Things changed, though, when Tom made a small comment and Antoni Porowski didn’t let him change the subject.
“Anthony pushed back the episode,” he said, though he admitted that the Fab “never talked publicly about the change.” When they broke into Tom’s kitchen, Anthony told him to leave out the sugar, which is where the comment in question came from.
Tom thought it was candy from Tom’s daughter because she had a baby boy, but Tom told the Fab Five that it was actually candy that Abby bought for him. “Wait, why was your face moving like that? Talk to me.” Tom says that he still loves Abby and wants to “spend his life with her” because of this comment. This makes the boys do everything they can to get them back. Imagine it.
But there is one scene in the episode that doesn’t show up. Karamo said that he helped Tom improve his dating profile and took him out “to meet different women, learn how to talk to them, and build his confidence.”
The cultural expert seems to be very happy about it.
