My deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and @BurnabyRCMP members who lost family members or coworkers in our province. Thank you for your help. Mike Farnworth, who is the minister of public safety in B.C., said something about what happened.
The terrible things that happened in Burnaby today are the worst news anyone could have hoped for. Our thoughts are with Burnaby RCMP officers, their families, friends, and other officers. Premier Justin Trudeau also spoke back.
So sad to hear that Officer @BurnabyRCMP was killed. My heart goes out to the officer’s family, friends, and coworkers. RCMP officers and civilian staff, as well as her family and friends, are in our thoughts during this terrible time.
The Daily Hive talked to Burnaby’s mayor, Mike Hurley, who said the trouble started when a city worker approached a man camping in Broadview Park. Hurley said that the worker, who worked for the Burnaby Parks Department, approached campers to help them find shelter and asked them to “hopefully move to an animal shelter.”

“They were looking for this guy, just like our team was,” Hurley said, adding that the event happened around that time. Hurley said that all employees in Burnaby will get help with their mental health.
“This morning, a young police officer went to work, but he didn’t make it home tonight. “It was terrible for all of us,” said Hurley. The investigation was taken over by an integrated homicide squad.
