Samuel Moreno Rojas, the former mayor of Bogotá, had a heart attack a few hours ago while he was being held at the National Police Carabinero station. This happened on Thursday, February 9, and he is still in jail. The news was proven to be true.
A report from the Central Military Hospital says that when Moreno was taken to the arrival medical center, he had no signs of life, and medical staff had to save him many times. The former mayor then had a heart catheterization to get his health back to normal.
And just like that, Bogota’s hired roulette sentenced the former mayor to death, and he is still in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Even though doctors tried to help, Moreno died there this February Friday afternoon.
“His death was recorded as happening at 6:30 p.m. “Refractory shock was the cause of death,” said Clara Galvez, who runs the military hospital.
People close to the former mayor questioned the care he got at the police station when he had a heart attack. In this way, they suggest that the agency’s uniformed officers didn’t respond quickly enough.
On Friday afternoon, the Supreme Court gave teacher Ivan Moreno permission to visit his brother in a military hospital for the next 24 hours.
One of the biggest corruption scandals in Colombia happened 12 years ago. It was called the “Bogotá recruitment merry-go-round,” and it started in the capital city of the country while Samuel Moreno Rojas was president (2008-2010).
Cousins Miguel, Manuel, and Guidonoul were accused of making up documents and paying bribes to get the contract to build the third phase of the TransMilenio south and southeast of Bogotá and to keep the road network in good shape.
