The release date for Overwatch 2 Season 2 is getting close, and the game’s first major update has a new tank hero, map, mythic skin, and more.
When you’re having fun, time goes by quickly, and the Season 2 release date for Overwatch 2 is closer than you might think. Season 1 got off to a rough start, but the multiplayer game quickly found its footing, and the release of the sequel coincided with the welcome arrival of Kiriko, Sojourn, and Junker Queen.
The big question, though, is whether or not Blizzard can keep this momentum going for a second season. Here’s everything we know about Season 2 of Overwatch 2 before it comes out.
Season 2 of Overwatch 2 is set to come out on December 6, 2022. The new seasonal model for Overwatch 2 changes every nine weeks. If Blizzard doesn’t change this schedule, Season 2 should last until February 7, 2023.
A new season means a new Overwatch 2 battle pass, so if you’re still trying to get that coveted Cyber Demon Genji mythic skin, time is running out. As with Season 1, the Season 2 battle pass for Overwatch 2 promises a lot of new cosmetics, such as emblems, voice lines, and weapon charms.

In Overwatch 2 Season 2, we can also expect to see a new (or old) face. During the grand finals of the Overwatch League, new tank hero Ramattra was shown off by lead hero designer Alec Dawson and art director Dion Rogers. Ramattra is an Omnic who can change between his normal form, in which he uses a staff and a shield, and his Nemesis form, in which he can charge in and punch with piercing force.
As part of the Season 2 update, there will also be a brand-new Overwatch 2 map. We don’t know much about it, except that the new hero Ramattra is “connected to this map.”

The Overwatch 2 Season 2 update promises a lot of new content, but if you can’t wait to play the new PvE mode, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Blizzard’s content roadmap says that a dedicated PvE mode won’t come out until 2023. But the Overwatch 2 Halloween event, which is still going on as I write this, gives you a taste of PvE.
