The native of Queens, New York made a rare appearance on Instagram Live on September 21 with a comment by DJ Akademiks. LL accused the 31-year-old YouTuber of labeling the veteran rapper “dirty” for not flaunting their money. In his lengthy response, the founder of Rock The Bells did not mention Ak, but his message was definitely directed at him.
LL stated, “Just because [hip-hop pioneers] did not gain millions or billions of wealth does not mean that they did not contribute to culture.” “They have established an industry that we have all consumed. They have established a self-sustaining enterprise.”
As one of the most prominent individuals in the hip-hop media, Akademiks is accustomed to getting criticism for his provocative views on rap-related matters. However, it is not often that the OG strain kicks things into overdrive.
“I’m only concerned about obtaining the paper,” LL concluded. “I’ve been talking about it my entire career. But never mix affluence with cultural contribution. No longer play like that!”
This weekend, LL Cool J will play at the 2022 iHeartRadio Festival. Every night from September 23rd to 24th, fans will be able to listen in via the CW app and an exclusive livestream on CWTV.com. In October, the CW Network will also carry a two-day television special. In addition, the festival will be aired live in over 150 markets across the country via iHeartRadio radio stations and the iHeartRadio app. Purchase your tickets before it is too late.
