Fans of his roles as Cedric Daniels in The Wire and Charon in the John Wick movies were sad to hear that Lance Reddick died at age 60. Reports from TMZ say that Reddick’s body was found at his home in Studio City around 9:30 this morning. Even though no one knows why he died yet, law enforcement officials have said that it seemed to be a normal death. The late actor was supposed to play Charon again in John Wick: Chapter 4, which is set to come out next week.
Reddick had more than 100 acting roles under his belt, and he was set to be in a number of future movies, such as the remake of White Men Can’t Jump and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. He was also revealed to play Charon in Ballerina, which is a spin-off of John Wick that is coming out soon. Reddick used social media to celebrate National Puppy Day while promoting John Wick: Chapter 4. He was going to talk about his new album on The Kelly Clarkson Show the following week.
Reddick, who was born in Baltimore, went to the elite Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester to study classical music composition. After getting his Bachelor of Music, he went on to Yale and got his Master of Fine Arts in 1994. In the 1990s, Reddick started making appearances on TV shows like New York Undercover, Swift Justice, and The Nanny, which were all very famous at the time. In 1998, he made his first movie appearance in Alfonso Cuarón’s Great Expectations as Anton Le Farge. Since then, he has been in many movies, such as The Siege, I Dreamed of Africa, Don’t Say a Word, Tennessee, The Way of War, Jonah Hex, Won’t Back Down, White House Down, The Guest, Little Woods, Sylvie’s Love, One Night in Miami, Godzilla vs. Kong, and many more.
Reddick was always on TV, and he was in a lot of great shows like The West Wing, Oz, Falcone, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He also had small roles in CSI: Miami, LOST, Fringe, The Blacklist, Ricky and Morty, American Horror Story, DuckTales, Castlevania, Bosch, and many other shows.
Lance Reddick just finished shooting the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, in which he plays Zeus. In December, news came out that he was going to be in the famous John Wick series’s Ballerina episode. “Charon is important to the world of Wick. “It’s good to know that Lance will continue to leave his mark on this franchise,” said producer Erica Lee. The job was finished in February, which made Reddick’s revenge possible.
Reddick and Stephanie Day said their vows to be together for life in 2011. During this hard time, our deepest thoughts go out to his family and friends.
