On Wednesday, we wore black and watched the latest behind-the-scenes look at Wednesday Adams, the main character in Tim Burton’s Netflix series. In it, film geek experts like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands talk about Wednesday star Jenna Ortega’s version of the classic Charles Adams character.
Jenna Ortega was born on 25 September 2002. This makes her 20 years old
“Of course, Wednesday was the epitome of a bad day. “What she saw was very black and white, mostly black,” Burton says in the video, which you can watch below. “In the past, it looked like a cartoon. So, we’re just trying to make it happen in this longer version, which I like.”
Ortega is on the rise as the scream queen with movies like Ti West’s X and the most recent Scream, and she knows she needs to stand out from what she’s done before. “Even though she’s done it so well in the past, I really want to do something different this time,” she said. Christina Ricci, who most people associate with the role, was also cast Wednesday in “an exciting new role.”
“She’s a bit awkward in social situations. “Self-assured, but quieter,” Ortega said next. “Technically, Wednesday is a Latino character who has never been acted out. I want my community to be seen whenever I can speak for it. Wednesday is someone I always compare to other people.” Number of reps: Win for the Inadequate Goth Girl and her family! Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Morticia Adams, and Luis Guzman plays Gomez Adams. Isaac Ordonez, who is new to the cast, plays Puglsey.

Burton said that it’s fascinating to combine Wednesday being the most ironic and loyal member of the Adams family with the reality of Gen Z, and Ortega has what it needs. “She’s like an actress in a silent movie because she can show things without speaking. It’s interesting to see how things work and how complicated they are. I can’t picture a different Wednesday.”
