Rapper Hurricane G, who was from New York and was known for songs like El Barrio and Underground Lockdown, has died after reportedly fighting lung cancer.
Erick Sermon, another rapper who has a daughter with G, said she had died in an Instagram post on Sunday. G, whose real name was Gloria Rodrguez, became well-known in the 1990s after she worked with rapper Redman on songs like “Tonight’s da Night” and “Dare Iz a Darkside.”
Sermon wrote on Instagram, “My heart has grown cold today.” “One of my good friends, the mother of my oldest daughter, died today.
Her name was #HURRICANEGLORIA, and she was a legend in the hip-hop world in her own right. She was one of the first female rappers from Puerto Rico.
“She paved the way. She was in all the hip-hop magazines at the time with all the top females. People everywhere will miss her.
I just don’t believe it. Please pray for us. Beautiful blessings. She was a lovely person, a great mother, and as real as it gets. We adore u G.”
