So sad to hear that Dublin GAA legend Brian Mullins has died. A wonderful midfielder has died. I never got to see Brian Mullins play football, but I had heard a lot about him from the 1970s and 1980s. It’s sad to hear that he died today because he was a legend in Dublin GAA. RIP. Brian Mullins was born on September 27, 1954, in Dublin, Ireland. He used to play and manage Gaelic football. He played football for the local St. Vincent club and was a senior member of the County Dublin team from 1974 until 1985. Later, Mullins took over as manager of Dublin and Derry. He is thought of as one of the best players in Dublin’s history. Bill Casey, a Kerry player in the 1930s and 1940s, is his uncle.
In 1954, Mullins was born in Dublin. He went to elementary school and high school in Dublin. After that, he went to Tormond College in Limerick. Mullins got his Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Ireland here.
Mullins then went back to Dublin to teach at the Greendale Community School in Kilbarak, which is north of the city. Here, he taught his own subjects as well as history and geography. In 1980, he took an 18-month break from Greendale to get a Master of Arts in Track and Field Management at New York University.
Mullins continued to teach in Greendale after he got back from the U.S. He did this until 1991, when he became the headmaster of the Condona Community School in Innishaven, County Donegal, Ireland.

Mullins moved back to Dublin in 2000 to become the sports director at UCD. The Irish Independent put Mullins at number 7 on its list of the “Top 20 Irish footballers of the past 50 years” in May 2020. Since 2018, his son Nathan has won a medal in the Ulster Senior Football Championship.
